Animation

video
This was an animation I had been working on for a class that ended a little while back. I had originally posted the storyboards and character model here and here but had to simplify it considerably. There were few minor things I would have tweaked had I not gotten caught up with work. It's nice to be versatile and expand the skill set, not to mention having to make your concept come to life yourself. Enjoy...

R.I.P. Ron Hayward

Ron Hayward was a figure drawing model at the College for Creative Studies(CCS) whom I found out died a few months back I believe. While many people knew him from taking classes at CCS throughout the years, I don't know how many people took the time to talk to him. In my limited interactions with him and from what I heard from others, he seemed very intelligent and articulate. I was only able to get brief fleeting glimpses of from what I had heard was quite an adventurous and fascinating life.

My condolences go out to his family, friends, and the students and faculty at CCS

Unfinished- View from my place

Hey, hope everyone had a great memorial day weekend. I've been keeping quite busy juggling a few things moving into a new apartment, finishing up some classes, new work stuff, finding furniture for my new place, and still trying to set up an internet connection!

This above peice was unfinished painting straight from life. I started painting it around sunset when the light was changing super fast and having to try to salvage what I could from memory. Nonetheless, it's good to paint from life. There's a bunch of color subtely you are able to pick up that a photo might over simplify or darken.

I do enjoy the composition of this piece, with the strong right angular elements combined with the green organic bush in the background topped off with a dab of strong golden sunlight at it's crest.
